Brazil: Black Bloc Queen joins protesters
28-year-old Elisa de Quadros Pinto Sanzi has been nicknamed the 'Black Bloc Queen' by Brazilian media for her heavy involvement in protests and spoke to the media in Rio de Janeiro, Thursday.
Sanzi has been accumulating police records since the protests began last year and was arrested twice. In the 90s she organised students to join protests with other student entities.
She also goes by the name of Sininho, Portuguese for Tinker Bell, because of her short hair and small frame.
Since demonstrating against the rise of transport prices, she has been featured in Brazilian magazines such as Veja, and, according to Sanzi, has received threats to her safety.
