Turkey: Riot police flush protesters off the streets
Violence flared between the riot police and anti-government protesters in central Ankara on Saturday. Security forces used tear gas and water cannons to disperse the hundreds of people demanding Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan's resignation.
Protesters chanted slogans such as 'Erdogan the thief' and pelted stones at the vans firing the water cannons. Fireworks were also heard amid the clashes.
The Turkish prime minister had been accused of corruption by the opposition parties in late February, who called for an investigation on the alleged voice recording where Erdogan purportedly asked his son to dispose of large amounts of money. The prime minister denied the accusations, alleging the recording was fabricated.
