Around 3,000 Crimean Tatars gathered in Simferopol's Lenin Square Sunday, rallying in support of protesters in Kiev. The crowd blocked traffic on Kirov Avenue, Simferopol's main thoroughfare.
Participants at the rally held flags of the Crimean Khanate, and banners bearing slogans such as "We support the demands of Euromaidan," "The future of Ukraine and Crimea - in the family of European nations" and "Let's preserve the territorial integrity of Ukraine." Participants also chanted slogans such as "Glory to Ukraine, Glory to the heroes" and "Glory to the nation, death to the enemy." A heavy police presence accompanied the rally.
