Spain: Thousands unite against Coca Cola, the Troika and more in Madrid
Thousands of protesters descended upon Madrid Sunday, as members of various interest groups including public health, education, anti-abortion activists, Coca-Cola employees and others rallied against what they view as curbs on civil rights and freedom. The protest was organised by the 'Marea Ciudadana' organisation.
Protesters gathered at the Puerta del Sol, walking to Neptune Square to protest against the 'financial coup' made by the 'Troika.' The protest comes on the 33rd anniversary of 23-F, a failed 1981 coup in Spain that saw the parliament and cabinet held hostage for 18 hours by armed members of Spain's Civil Guard.
