Russia: Lavrov calls out EU for drafting Ukraine association agreement behind Russia's back
Russian foreign minister Sergey Lavrov spoke about Ukraine during a press conference in Moscow on Tuesday, which followed talks on bilateral and international relations with Estonian foreign minister Urmas Paet.
Lavrov said that Russia does not oppose closer ties between former Soviet states and the EU, but that Russia expects greater transparency when it comes to developing these relations.
He pointed out that the secretive behaviour around the drafting of the association agreement raises questions, since it was not published before initialising despite assurances by Catherine Ashton that the agreement would not harm Russia-Ukraine trade relations.
