Russia: Sochi takes selfies to a new level with 3D wall
Visitors to the MegaFon Interactive Pavilion in Sochi's Coastal Cluster Olympic Park have the chance to see giant 3D versions of their faces on a revolutionary "3D Wall", taking the concept of 'selfies' to a multi-dimensional new level.
Visitors simply scan themselves in 3D booths within the pavilion, then wait to see the screen morph into a massive 3D portait of themselves some 3500 times the original size. The facade uses 10,000 actuators to mold the screen's surface into a likeness of the visitor's portraits.
The 3D wall is the brain child of British designer Asif Khan, inspired by the concept of giving everyone the opportunity to be "the face of the Olympics".
The 3D booths are also installed in MegaFon stores across Russia. MegaFon is one of Russia's largest telecommunications companies, and is a partner of the 2014 Sochi Winter Olympics.
