Russia: We will partake in second round of Geneva II- Syrian National Coalition

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov met with the leaders of the Syrian National Coalition of Revolutionary and Opposition Forces in Moscow on Tuesday.

National Coalition Chairman Ahmad Jarba and Secretary General Badr Jamous were there to represent and lead the Syrian delegation.

"I believe today's meeting will indeed be fruitful and will help us clarify the future development of the Geneva process," Lavrov said. "The Delegation of Syria's National Coalition came to Montreux to take part in the Geneva II conference and participated in the first round of talks, which we consider as their willingness to resolve the conflict peacefully" Lavrov told the press.

Jarba responded "We came to participate in the Geneva II conference genuinely hoping to advance toward a political settlement of the conflict. We have also announced our decision to participate in the second round of negotiations on 10 February despite the fact that even during the Geneva conference we've heard of barrel bombs being dropped on people. But we have firmly decided to take the path of political settlement."
