Chinese Australians welcomed the Lunar New Year in Sydney on Sunday. Thousands of people took to the streets for the event, which consisted of a parade, dances, costumes and a fireworks display. Over 3,000 performers took part in the celebrations.
There are currently close to 900,000 people of Chinese ancestry currently living in Australia, while China is currently Australia's biggest two-way trading partner in terms of immigration. Around 30,000 skilled Chinese immigrants emigrate to Australia each year.
