A dazzling array of coins commemorating the upcoming 2014 FIFA World Cup were unveiled by the Brazilian Central Bank in Brasilia, Wednesday. The set includes one gold coin, two silver, and six made of copper and nickel.
The gold coin is inscribed with an image of the FIFA cup on one side and player scoring a goal on the other. Weighing in at around 4.4 grams (0.16 ounces), the gold option is available for $504 (€610).
The larger silver coins have an asking price of $81 (€98) and are minted with images paying homage to the cities that are due to host the World Cup on one side alongside Fuleco, the Cup mascot.
The less costly copper and nickel models, which will go for $12 (€9) a piece, feature a map of Brazil and the image of a football player.
