Russia: Thousands of flowers planted for 2014 Sochi Winter Olympics

Thousands of flowers were planted across Sochi on Monday in preparation to welcome visitors for the 2014 Sochi Winter Olympics. A diverse range of flowers are on display, including ericas, tulips and violas.

The city plans to establish 28 large flowerbeds and over 400 flowerpot constructions across the city before the Olympics begin, while most of the flowers have been imported from Italy and the Netherlands. Several hundred palm trees have also been planted across Sochi's Black Sea tourist resort.
