Switzerland: Peace depends upon Assad agreeing to Geneva Communique - Syrian opposition
The first phase of negotiating peace between the Syrian government and opposition groups is dependent upon the government agreeing to conditions set in the Geneva Communique, Syrian opposition spokesperson Luai Safi told the press on Friday in Geneva.
He then continued on to say, "If they don't agree on this then there is nothing to negotiate. I think we are going to wait until Lakhdar Brahimi declares the situation according to the information. So really I think we would like the United Nations to tell the world whether this regime is going toward a political solution, and the sum would be accepting the Geneva Communique."
Safi is part of the delegation representing the Syrian opposition, who is participating in talks at the Geneva II conference.
