Russia: Sochi Mountain Cluster media centre opens its doors
The Olympic media centre 'Gorky' officially opened Friday at the Mountain Cluster in Sochi, just a few weeks before the 2014 Winter Olympics begin.
At an altitude of 540 metres (1,772 feet) above sea level, the media centre will host up to 4,000 Broadcasters and 500 media representatives from around the world during peak hours. Four studios and six live-positions overlooking the snow-capped peaks of Krasnaya Polyana have been mounted on the roof of the centre, which totals over 30,000 square metres.
The centre also features a food court, cafeteria and vending machines with food and drinks. In the common area is a post office, pharmacy, dry cleaners, supermarket, Internet cafe, Olympic shop and a relaxation room with massage chairs, among other amenities.
