Germany: Dance or die on Berlin's icy roads

Winter finally arrived in Berlin on Monday, turning its cobble stone pavements into an ice skating ring. The below zero temperatures caught many civilians and tourist off guard, as many slipped and fell when exiting the train stations.

Before lunch time over 1,000 calls were made to the emergency services to report a fall, while police reported about 108 traffic accidents due to the capital's icy roads. The temperatures will only get colder with forecasts saying that it will reach -10 C by the end of the week.
