Ukraine: Injuries increase as police throw grenades, fire bullets
Medics attended to injured protesters in a first aid room set up inside the House of Trading Unions at Kiev's Independence Square, Monday, after police reacted to further protests with water cannon, tear gas and rubber bullets.
One injured Maiden protester said, "They threw stun grenades, fragmentation grenades and smoke grenades".
This latest bout of violence comes after Ukrainian President Victor Yanukovych passed a number of bills that critics argue limit people's right to protest. As part of new legislation, the wearing of gas masks and helmets during protests is prohibited, ignored by protesters on Monday.
