USA: BMW debuts new M3, M4 and 2-series cars
In a press conference at the NAIAS Detroit auto show on Monday, BMW presented its new range of autos for 2014, the M4 Coupe, M3 Sedan, along with the 2-series coupe.
Both M models have improved fuel efficiency over last year's models, with the 4L V8 engine being replaced with a twin-turbo 3L six-cylinder evolving 425hp. Extensive use of carbon fibre in the chassis, along with the trimmer engines, have allowed engineers to cut 176 lbs (80kg) from the total weight.
The new models were presented at the NAIAS Detroit Auto Show, a traditional venue for entrants to the US market to show off their prestige lines. The US is currently the largest single market for BMW's M series cars.
