Germany: Protesters swap Christmas trees for toilet brushes

Police cleared barricades made of Christmas trees in Hamburg on Friday as protesters continued to rally against newly enforced 'danger zones' that gives riot police the power to stop, search and remove people moving around the city.

Police claim that the action is in response to violent clashes that took part during December's demonstrations sparked by the eviction of the Rota Flora centre squatters community.

Protesters wielded toilet brushes, which have become a symbol of resistance to the imposed danger zones and curfew.
