Customers visited a natural pharmacist in order to buy medicinal lizard fat in the Pakistani city of Rawalpindi, Friday. Specialists slice the lizards stomach open with a knife before removing the fat, which is then placed into a pan and boiled over a slow flame. The fat is sold as a medicine said to treat arthritis, male impotence and sexually transmitted diseases.
Ghulam Rasool, a trader of fat lizards in Rawalpindi, said: "Lizard's fat magically effect on the treatment of paralysis, joints, male impotence. We melt the piece of fat taken from the abdomen of a lizar and mix it with bear grease, saffron and musk."
Doctors such as Muhammad Shishti, accuse merchants of lizard's fat of deceiving those who come to them and claim that what they're doing is illegal, whilst denying the medicinal qualities of the extract.
