USA: Life ticks along faster with a Smartwatch

Smartwatches were among the highlights at Wednesday's session of CES 2014 in Las Vegas, with many now offering call, text, reminder and email functionalities. The watches work from a distance of several metres from the connected device, and do not need to be charged or updated like a smartphone.

Companies like Connectedevice Ltd have developed the Cogito brand of wrist watches which keep the user up-to-date with email notifications, and call logs identifying who is calling as well as how many calls have been missed. The Cogito retails at $129 (€95) while the Cogito Pop costs $169/€125.

Explaining the thinking behind his company's latest innovation, Peter Hauser, chief technology officer of Connectedevice Ltd said: "You can see I got one email and what we did instead is, okay you want to be able to see hope much information is coming in on your phone without having to read each individual email and then page through it because at that point you might as well just pull your phone out."
