Ukraine: Euromaidan protesters serve up traditional Christmas Eve menu
On Orthodox Christmas Eve Monday, Euromaidan protesters were able to eat 12 traditional lent dishes, the meat-free dinner supposed to end a long fast before Christmas.
All food was blessed by priests and then was given to residents and guests of the Euromaidan. The main menu included: rice kutya with honey and poppy seeds, wheat kutya with honey and nuts, kutya with boiled fruit, honey and poppy seeds, dumplings with jam, poppy seeds and raisins, patties with potatoes, patties with rice, meat-free borsch, vegetable stew with mushrooms, stewed cabbage with peas, mushroom soup, carpathian-style, vinaigrette, a traditional salad of winter vegetables with crab sticks, ukrainian-style buns, uzvar, a drink of boiled dried fruit.
