Russia: Great trauma hits Volgograd's hospitals
At least 16 people were confirmed dead and another 40 were taken for treatment to nearby hospitals as a bomb blast caused by a suicide bomber ripped through Volgograd train station
The suicide bomber was initially thought to be Oksana Aslanova from Dagestan, however, recent reports state that the perpetrator is still unclear.
Mikhail Nozhikhin explains the moment the blast hit, how he lost consciousness and how it was the courage of the locals around him that saved him for the blast site.
Alexander Popov, the chief doctor of Hospital 25 explained the gravity of the situation: “The total number of the delivered patients is 19, 13 of them are acute, two from those 13 are in very critical condition. Eight operations have been made so far, three are in progress. The treatment is being provided, intensive care, help – all that is required.”
On October 6, a suicide blast left six dead and dozens injured when a female suicide bomber blew herself up on a bus travelling through Volgograd.
