Bahrain: Clouds of tear gas engulf streets as protests quashed
Tear gas snaked through the streets and sound bombs exploded outside the Bahraini capital Manama, Saturday, as protesters turned out in their hundreds across the country following the arrest of Sheikh Ali Salman, head of the main Shiite opposition bloc al-Wefaq on Saturday.
Members of the February Fourteenth opposition group blocked the road with burning tyres in al-Burhama village. In Malkiya, protesters clad in black with their faces hidden behind balaclavas and scalves also set the streets alight in a show of public disobedience. Clashes also erupted in A'ali village and al-Barbaghi.
