      Russia: Adorable dogs and their pretty owners don fancy dress

      Dog owners and their pet pooches dressed in matching costumes Sunday for the annual New Year fancy dress competition in the Russian city of Rostov-on-Don, with fairytale characters a major source of inspiration.

      Around 350 people gathered at the Rostselmash cultural centre for the parade, after hours of designing and creating bespoke garments for themselves and their four-legged friends.

      No cats were known to be present.
