Belgium: Protesters detained by police after targeting EU summit
Around 40 protesters were arrested in a park next to the European Council Justus Lipsius building in Brussels on Thursday. Before police escorted the protesters onto a bus, they were handcuffed and gathered up in the park.
Firefigthers were on the scene to extinguish bales of burning hay on the street lit earlier in the afternoon.
According to a spokesperson, the demonstrators are calling for a "Europe for the people, which respects the workers and allows all European workers to have decent working conditions."
