      Mexico: MP strips in a public protest against privatisation

      Stripping down to his underwear, PRD (Party of the Democratic Revolution) MP Antonio Garcia Conjeno protested about reforms to the nation's energy sector during a Senate debate on December 11.

      The reforms, pushed for by President Enrique Pena Niento, where approved by a vote on Tuesday and resulted in a bill allowing private companies to drill for gas and oil. The bill will likely see state-run oil company Pemex (Petroleos Mexicanos), open to foreign investment after 75 years of state control over production.
