Thousands of people joined the Independence and Solidarity March for the 32nd anniversary of the declaration of Martial Law in Warsaw on December 13. The main organiser of the event was opposition party Law and Justice, who argued that freedom in present day Poland is under threat.

Protesters shouted "thieves" under the heavily guarded Prime Minister's office, while the white and red Polish flag was held aloft. Some protesters also carried Ukrainian flags in solidarity with Kiev's current pro-EU protesters.

On December 13, 1981, thousands of members of an movement were sent to prison without trial during the years of martial law, with as many as many as 100 thought to have been killed.
