Ukraine: Riot police march on protest camps
Hundreds of riot police gathered on Institutskaya Street in Kiev in preparation to march on Independence Square, dispersing smaller camps of protesters and allowing them through their lines. The city's main square is currently occupied by anti-government protesters camping out overnight on Tuesday morning.
Local reports say that power has been cut off to city administration buildings, and that lights will also be turned off at the main square camp.
Earlier, police removed some of the temporary barricades set up to bar their access, but did not attempt to remove the demonstrators. Protest leaders Vitaly and Vladimir Klitschko joined activists in their confrontation with police.
