UK: Thousands gather in Trafalgar for Mandela vigil
Thousands gathered for a vigil in memory of Nelson Mandela outside South Africa House in Trafalgar Square on Friday.
Mourners danced and sang, celebrating the anti-apartheid icon's life, before holding a 95-second silence to mark the 95 years Mandela lived. As crowds grew police were forced to close roads leading into the famous London landmark.
Nelson Mandela died on Thursday after fighting a recurring lung infection. His daughter, Zindzi, was at the London premiere of his biopic, Long Walk to Freedom, when she learned of her father's death. A 10-day mourning period has been planned by Mandela's family and the South African government.
