UK: Tidal surge: the rescuers might soon need rescuing

Volunteers from the Royal National Lifeboat Institution could have done with being rescued themselves after a huge storm sent waves crashing into their station in Wells, Norfolk.

The biggest tidal surge to have hit the UK's east coast in 60 years struck Thursday evening, sweeping away seven houses, two caravans and 30 beach huts into the sea. According to Friends of Horsey Seals, around 400 seals have also been 'lost' in the tidal surge.

After eight severe flood warnings, thousands of people are now being evacuated from their homes.
