Thailand: Cremation ceremony held for shot soldier
Around one hundred mourners, including family, attended the cremation of 22-year-old soldier Thanasit Viangkham in Wat Yang temple in Bangkok, Wednesday.
Viangkham was found dead after being shot while patrolling Rajamangala National Stadium last Saturday night, where pro-government protests were being held. It remains unclear who fired the shots.
Viangkham was then brought to Pyathai Hospital where he died.
Current protests in Bangkok are the biggest since April 2010 when red-shirted supporters of Thaksin paralysed the city. The unrest in 2010 ended up with military crackdown in which at least 91 people were killed.
