Russia: Bolshoi ballet dancer Dmitrichenko sentenced 6 years for acid attack
The Meshansky court of Moscow sentenced a soloist of the Bolshoi Ballet 29 -year-old Pavel Dmitrichenko , accused of organising an acid attack on his artistic director Sergei Filin, to six years in a colony of strict regimen. The executor of the attack, 35-year-old unemployed and previously convicted Yuri Zarutsky, was sentenced to ten years in prison of special regimen.
Another involved - 32-year-old unemployed Andrey Lipatov who drove the car, received four years of strict regimen. All of them were found guilty of intentionally causing grievous harm to health, committed by a group of people by prior agreement in respect of a person in connection with his professional performance.
The assault on Filin was committed on January 17 in Moscow, where acid was splashed in his face. He was hospitalised with third-degree chemical burns, including burns to the eyes. To preserve vision, he had to go through 20 operations, and the recovery process is still far from over.
