Spain: Putin and Pope "shitters" on sale for Christmas

World leader "shitter" figurines such as Russian President Vladimir Putin, US President Barack Obama, German Chancellor Angela Merkel and the Pope are on sale in Catalonia at Barcelona's 'Santa Llucia' Christmas market, Sunday.

The little figurine is part of an age-old Catalan tradition, which includes a hidden shitter defecating among other figurines on the Christmas manger. The ritual goes back to the seventeenth century, when the original figurine was strictly depicted with a white t-shirt and a red cup, the typical clothing of Catalan peasant farmers. However, in recent times the figurines have adapted to the characters of world-known personalities.

The shitter figurine is not the only scatological tradition of the Catalan folk. On Christmas eve children beat a Christmas Log named 'Tio', so that it shits their presents.
