      Ukraine: Vigil held for badly injured protester in Maidan

      People lit candles and left flowers on Maidan square in Kiev on Saturday for a girl who was injured during overnight protests and clashes with police. Some protesters picketed the square with banners saying "Get out Berkut from Maidan", "Putin President of Ukraine?" and "Putin, get your hands off Ukraine".

      The protests in Independence square were dispersed earlier today, with protesters relocating to nearby Mikhailovskaya Square. The authorities stated that the forced dispersal of protesters was demanded by the city's administration, as they had to install the Christmas tree on Independence square.

      Ukraine has experienced a week of ongoing protests, with some in favour of integration with the EU and others opposed to it.
