France: Retirement reforms rile thousands of Parisians
Around 10,000 people took the streets of Paris Tuesday to protest against retirement reforms.
Marchers started in the Rue de la Chaussee-d'Antin in the city's IX arrondissement, making their way to the Place de la Concorde public square. Marchers originally had planned to convene at the nearby Palais Bourbon, home of the French National Assembly, but were blocked by a heavy police presence.
Proposed reforms by French President Francois Hollande would lengthen the number of years people must work to receive a full pension, from 41 years to 43 years by 2035.
