Russia: Orthodox Church and Holy See build on common ground
Roman Catholic archbishop and President of the Holy See's Pontifical Council for the Family Vincenzo Paglia spoke at an international conference in Moscow, Tuesday.
The conference, which opened with a speech from His Holiness Kirill, Patriarch of Moscow and all Russia, will last for next three days in Danilovskaya Hotel, beside the Danilov Monastery, the official residence of the Patriarch.
Patriarch Kirill praised the Holy See for its position towards the peaceful settlement of the Syrian conflict and noted the importance of the message of Pope Francis President to Vladimir Putin on September 4, which called the G20 leaders to abstain from military strikes on Syria and concentrate efforts on finding a diplomatic solution to the conflict.
The international conference was organised by the Synodal Biblical and Theological Commission.
