Germany: Police clearance of refugee camp sparks protest
Protests erupted in Berlin on Sunday when police officers attempted to dismantle a refugee camp on Oranienplatz from which 80 people had been relocated to a winter home.
The police soon found that new inhabitants had moved into the camp as the previous ones departed, causing hundreds of people to turn out in protest against the camp's destruction.
The 80 departing inhabitants have been relocated to a former old people's home in the district of Wedding, in the north west of the city, where they are entitled to stay until the end of February.
