Latvia: Maxima rescue efforts continue into the night
Rescue efforts at the scene of the Maxima supermarket collapse continued on Saturday. Rescue workers had to cease searching for a period of time as the roof continued to fall. Earlier they had recovered the body of one of the remaining missing people from the rubble in Riga.
The Maxima supermarket roof collapsed on Thursday leaving more than 50 people dead. Rescue workers are currently consulting with engineers since remaining of the roof continue to collapse.
The tragedy has been described as 'murder' by the Latvian president Andris Berzin. Three days of mourning have been decreed, starting on Saturday.
