Pakistan: US drone that killed six condemned as illegal
A US drone strike on a religious school in the Hangu district of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province of Pakistan on Thursday morning is reported to have killed five people. An unnamed Pakistani intelligence official told reporters that all five were members of the Haqqani network, an insurgent group active against NATO forces in Afghanistan.
Security officials say the drone fired four missiles, killing five and injuring four people. Among the dead are two clerics, Maulvi Ahmad Jan Afghani and Maulvi Hamidullah Afghani. Pakistan’s spokesman of Foreign Office condemned the attack saying the attack was 'against international law'.
The drone strike came within 24 hours of a statement made by Sartaj Aziz, the prime minister's adviser on national security and foreign affairs, that the US had said they would not to carry out any drone attacks during talks between the government and Taliban in Pakistan.
