Russia: Million dollar Faberge collection unveiled
A collection of works by Tsar jewellery maker Karl Faberge went on display at the recently renovated Shuvalosky Palace in St. Petersburg on Tuesday.
The collection, was purchased by Russian billionaire Viktor Vekselberg in 2004, and was earlier owned by the Romanov family, the last imperial dynasty to rule over the country.
Consisting of over 4,000 objects that date back to the late 19th and early 20th century, the collection includes 9 of Faberge's famous jewelled eggs.
It is estimated that the collection is worth over $90 million (€ 66.5 million).
