Belgium: 'They know what they have to do' - Lithuania FM on Ukraine EU membership

Lithuanian Minister of Foreign Affairs Linas Linkevicius arrived at the EU's meeting in Brussels on Monday morning, ahead of discussing Ukrainian membership in the European Union with other representatives.

Speaking about Ukraine's role in the meetings, Linkevicius says the ultimate decision lies with the Ukrainian authorities: "I would say the Ukrainian leadership really in these days, in this crucial moment, in the moment of truth, should really show their leadership and resolution. Many things depend on their position."

Yet Linkevicius reiterated that Ukraine needs to make changes to their electoral system, implement judicial reform and make a solution to selective justice, as in the Yulia Tymoshenko case, in order to sign the Association Agreement with the EU.

The European Foreign Affairs council meets ahead of the European Eastern Partnership meeting in Vilnius, Lithuania on November 28-29, to cover the EU-Ukraine Association Agreement and provisions on free trade.
