Afghanistan: Bomb blast rips through the capital
At least six people were killed in a suicide car bombing in the Afghan capital Kabul on Saturday. Interior Ministry officials confirmed the blast killed six people, and injured 20 others, including one member of the Afghan army, a policeman and four civilians.
The explosion occurred at 3:00pm (10:30 GMT) when a coach laden with explosives was fired on at a checkpoint, before exploded on impact as it crashed into a security vehicle. The incident took place close to a compound where the United States is set to debate the status of troops remaining in the country with the Afghanistan's traditional council of elders, the Loya Jirga.
Debris from the blast was scattered through the street where nearby shops and cars were damaged from the blast.
