Lebanon: Blood is ritually spilled to mark Day of Ashura
Hundreds of men and young boys flocked marked the Day of Ashura in Beirut on Thursday reenacting the martyrdom of the prophet Muhammad's grandson Husayn ibn Ali who was killed in 680 AD at the battle of Karbala. Many people were covered in blood after engaging in bloody self-flagellation processions.
