      Syria: Assad offers prayers for Eid al-Adha

      Syrian President Bashar al-Assad attended morning prayers at the Hassibah mosque in Damascus on Tuesday to celebrate the Muslim festival of Eid al-Adha along with hundreds of worshippers, including the Grand Mufti of Syria, Ahmad Hassoun.

      Pictures released by Syrian state television show the president alongside the religious leader in prayers held to commemorate the sacrifice of Abraham and bring to an end the annual Hajj pilgrimage.
