Indonesia: Danger of Syrian radicals better understood - Lavrov

Russian foreign minister Sergey Lavrov commented on Syrian opposition militant groups during the APEC summit in Bali on Tuesday, saying that parties who previously would not admit being wrong about radical groups, now had a better understanding of the danger they pose.

He said: "As the actual situation on the ground, as real life was producing more and more facts that this is, to a large extent and more and more so, about radicals trying to get hold of this huge region, the people who committed themselves to a different interpretation had difficulty in admitting that they were wrong.

"But the truth and the understanding of the danger of the radicals, which they present to Syria and the North African region in general, is being understood more and more. This was very obvious when we met with John Kerry, and we basically said so at the press conference in New York, and at the press conference here in Indonesia a couple of days ago."
