Russia: Arctic Sunrise activist 'detained illegally' - Greenpeace
Greenpeace's ship Arctic Sunrise was seized by the Russian Coast Guard on Thursday and towed Murmansk, after activists attempted to climb onto an Arctic offshore drilling platform last Thursday.
Around 30 activists have since been detained by authorities, a move which Greenpeace claims is illegal.
Activist Zhenya Belyakova said, "Greenpeace activists and Greenpeace ship Arctic Sunrise held non violent peaceful protests to protect the arctic against drilling for the oil in the arctic shelf. And we hope that the Russian authorities will understand that they were detained illegally and will let them free very soon to go home."
