UK: Said Gaddafi wants fate decided in The Hague, not in Libya - lawyer
John Jones, the lawyer of Saif Gaddafi, son of Colonel Muammar Gaddafi, the deceased Libyan leader, revealed that his client wants to be tried at the International Criminal Court in The Hague, rather than in Libya where he says he would not be given a fair trial.
Jones said, "We would have a fair trial before the ICC whereas the conditions for fair trial do not exist in Libya currently", elaborating that his client would prefer to avoid death penalty.
Saif Gaddafi is currently wanted for war crimes and crimes against humanity before and during the uprising in Libya, that led to the fall of his father.
Gaddafi is currently being held in the Libyan town of Zitan, where he appeared in court on Thursday.
