Germany: Contortionists get bent for final ICC performance
Contortionists bent their limbs at unnatural angles in the world's premiere exhibition of human origami at the final performance of the International Contortionist Convention in the German city of Bergisch Gladbach on Wednesday. The three-day convention hosts world's top contortionists and returned to Germany after being moved to Las Vegas 13 years ago.
Among the performers were Zlata, a 27-year-old Russian and Guinness World Record Holder for most bendy woman among other titles, and George the Rubber Guru, a contortionist hailing from Ghana.
The performance was comprised of ten different acts with a ten minute interval in between. Performers travelled from as far as Brisbane, Australia to showcase their talents.
The idea for the convention came from famed contortionist and mentor Ska von Schoening in 1998. The first convention was held in Dresden.
