Germany: IFA doors open on second day
The doors of the Berlin Messe exhibition hall swung open on Friday for this year's International Funkausstellung (IFA) trade fair, one of the world's oldest events for consumer electronics and home appliances. Thousands queued to get a look at the latest developments in personal technology, including the newly announced Sony Xperia Z1 and Samsung Galaxy Note 3 smartphones.
First opening in 1924, the IFA originally touted German achievements in broadcast technology. Tens of thousands of attendees will visit the exhibition over the five days of the event, to see exhibitors such as Samsung, Sony and LG show off the latest and greatest flagship phones, tablets and hundreds of other technologies.
