Sweden: Obama arrives to thousands of protesters

Thousands of activists gathered at Medborgarplatsen in Stockholm on Wednesday, to protest against President Barack Obama.

Activists marched towards Mynttorget to the Swedish parliament, where the US president was engaging in an official two day visit to meet with Nordic leaders.

His visit comes en route to the G20 summit that will take place in St Petersburg where he is expected to lobby for support for military intervention against Syrian President Bashar al-Assad's government.

Protesters gathered in the afternoon while Obama attended a ceremony honouring the late Swedish diplomat Raoul Wallenberg. Many waved Syrian flags and posters of Assad whilst others held plaques campaigning for Bradley Manning.

Obama is expected to depart from Stockholm on Thursday on Air Force One, to travel to St Petersberg.
