Iraq: Kurd refugees escape Syrian conflict
Thousands of Syrian refugees are crossing the border point of Shlke on Wednesday, fleeing the war-torn country and seeking refuge in Iraq's Kurdistan region. According to a United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) report, more than 30,000 Syrians have crossed the border since August 15, when the border between two countries was re-opened. Iraq already hosts around 150,000 Syrian refugees.
The organisation also says this is the biggest movement of Syrian refugees since November 2012, when approximately 9,000 Syrians crossed into Turkey.
