Russia: Police break up anti-immigrant protest in St. Petersburg
Hundreds of people took part in a protest near the Dybenko metro station in St. Petersburg on Friday, expressing their opposition to what they see as a rising number of foreign migrants in the city.
A spate of actions have been held in the last few weeks, with Friday's protest focused on the case of Mikhail Mikhailov, a local citizen who was allegedly killed by an Uzbek migrant. The meeting combined nationalists and activists of the so-called 'Russian Clean-up movement' who joined forces to march.
The group's failure to obtain a permit to rally resulted in clashes and 24 detentions.
